Although the Barbie doll was introduced by Mattell in 1959, it contributed to the Fashion of the 60's. The Barbie doll shined through its various fashion choices that made it a household name in the 1960's. The choice of fashion depended on the current trend involved that year. The dolls influence became apparent when millions of girls desired to become like the barbie doll with her fashion trends and perfect looks.

One thing that is important to remember is that the 60's were the era of the baby boom. Teenagers reached a record high number of 70 million and around the time of post-war, teens had more spending power and personal freedom than ever before. These teenagers where the influence involved in Fashion.
